Aquaponics

Aquaponics refers to an innovative farming system that combines hydroponics with conventional aquaculture. Where the water from the fish tanks is enriched in nutrients and used for plant growth. It is a soil-free down-sized natural process that can be found in lakes, ponds and rivers. Using fish waste as fertilizer for crops. The aquaponic system produces nutrient-rich waste that is used as a feed source for the plants in the vertical farm. The plants, in turn filter and purify the wastewater, which is recycled to the fish ponds. Given the fact that aquaponics follows nutrient and water reusing principles, it is a promising solution for sustainable aquaculture and hydroponic practices for a wide array of purposes, whether it be commercial or domestic.
